I love to try new restaurants, especially when I travel, and so I decided to start a new section of the blog with restaurant’s reviews, I hope you like this idea! The first restaurant which I recommend is Thai Silk, a very good Thai restaurant in London. One thing I noticed about London is its exceptional ethnic restaurants. I had already been to a Thai restaurant but I’ve never eaten so well as at the Thai Silk. The restaurant also includes a bar, very popular during weekends, and two karaoke rooms.
The interior of the restaurant is very traditional with much use of red and traditional Thai decorative elements, such as art on the walls, flowers and golden buddha. I liked the very large and bright environment.
The menu included traditional Thai cuisine but with innovative elements. To accompany dinner we decided to order two delicious cocktails. As a starter I ordered the Tempura Koong (deep-fried king prawns) and Ste ordered the Satay Chicken. Both dishes were delicious and the sauces that accompanied them fitted neatly.
As main course we ordered a Panang (thai red curry) with chicken and a Phad Bai Kraprow with prawns, a spicy dish that I haven’t tasted, but Ste told me that it was very good. My Panang was delicious and very creamy, I love curry and I rarely ate such a good curry dish.
The dessert surprised us a lot, probably because I had never tried Thai desserts and because I am used to very sweet desserts. In this case both the dishes we ordered were very delicate and with fresh ingredients like fruit and ice cream. My dessert was the Thai Pandan Pancake a dish that was recommended by the owner and that we adored. Ste instead opted for a classic Khao Niew Ice Cream (sticky reis with vanilla ice cream)
As for the service, it was really excellent, we never had to wait long for our food and we were asked if we wanted to take a break between one course and the other. We also had some tips in the selection of dishes and this made our dining experience even better. When I return to London, Thai Silk will be definitely a must and if you are in London or you happen to go there, I suggest you to eat there.
